LOCATION
The Graduate School of Islamic and Social Sciences is located in Ashburn,
Virginia among a cluster of campuses on Route 7, which has become the
academic corridor of Loudoun County. George Washington University’s
Virginia campus is one block west on Route 7. Strayer University’s
Loudoun Campus is adjacent to GSISS. Northern Virginia Community College’s
Loudoun Campus is one mile west on Route 7. Marymount University’s
Loudoun Campus is two miles east just off Route 7. Old Dominion University’s
Northern Virginia campus is four miles east just off Route 7. Shenandoah
University’s Northern Virginia campus is 7 miles west just off Route
7.
The campus is twenty five miles northwest of Washington, District of
Columbia and just eight miles from Dulles airport. It is immediately north
of Dulles airport just one block west of the intersection of Route 28

Directions
From Maryland: Take Route I-495 south to Route 267 (Dulles
Toll Road) west. Take exit 9 to Route 28 north and stay in your left lane on
28. Route 28 dead ends at route 7, take the left exit (headed west). Stay in
your left lane and turn left at the first traffic light on Route 7 onto Richfield
Road (1060), then immediately turn left onto Russell Branch Parkway and you
will see a three-story red brick building on your left. The School is in Suite
303 of this building.
From Washington, DC: Take Route I-495 or Route 66 to Route
267 (Dulles Toll Road) west. Take exit 9 to Route 28 north and stay in your
left lane on 28. Route 28 dead ends at route 7, take the left exit (headed west).
Stay in your left lane and turn left at the first traffic light on Route 7 onto
Richfield Road (1060), then immediately turn left onto Russell Branch Parkway
and you will see a three-story red brick building on your left. The School is
in Suite 303 of this building.
From the Tyson's Corner area: Take Route 7 west and turn left
onto Richfield Road (1060) at the first traffic light after Route 28. Immediately
go left onto Russell Branch Parkway and you will see a three-story red brick
building on your left. The School is in Suite 303 of this building.
From Leesburg and Western Loudoun County: Take Route 7 east
and turn right onto Richfield Road (1060) at the first traffic light after the
intersection that says turn left for George Washington University. Once on Richfield
Road, immediately turn left onto Russell Branch Parkway and you will see a three-story
red brick building on your left. The School is in Suite 303 of this building.

About the Area
The Dulles Corridor: The Dulles corridor is a rapidly developing high-technology
corridor stretching from Leesburg and vicinity in the west to the Washington,
District of Columbia beltway in the east. Many high-technology and defense-related
industries are located here, as well as many national associations.
Cultural/Historical Sites: This area of the country, more
than any other, epitomizes the history of this country. Yorktown, on the north
side of the Norfolk, is the battle site where the British surrendered to the
Americans, thus ending the revolutionary war. Mount Vernon, the plantation owned
by this country’s founding President, George Washington, can be toured
just south of Washington, District of Columbia. Civil war battle sites in the
area include Balls Bluff in Leesburg, Virginia; Manassas in Manassas, Virginia;
Antietam in Maryland; and Gettysburg in Pennsylvania. Tours of the Senate, the
Congress, and the White House are available in Washington, DC.
Cultural sites in the area include the Smithsonian Naturalist Center, the Air
and Space Museum in Washington, District of Columbia, the Dulles airport, the
Smithsonian National Air & Space Museum Steven F., Udvar-Hazy Center in
Chantilly, Virginia, the National Gallery of Art in Washington, District of
Columbia, the Baltimore Aquarium in Baltimore, Maryland, the Norfolk Aquarium
in Norfolk, Virginia, and Lurray Caverns, in Lurray, Virginia. Sites within
